depending on time of arrival and the amount of time and
attention any particular ECS is going to require.
The damage on these can vary quite a bit, so it's all about
what we have to work with when we open it up.

These early nineties Mitsubishi 3000GT ECS units are prone to
failure due to the original factory electrolytic capacitors.
When they get to a certain age the capacitors start slowly
leaking an oily fluid that eventually will corrode the copper lines
of the printed circuit board, as well as degrade or ruin the metals of any components that were saturated in the acidic chemical.

After an ECS unit has been properly overhauled,
the capacitor problem will not be back again.
Only the old original factory capacitors,
be it from Nichicon, Rubicon or otherwise,
are what is causing all the trouble.
These capacitors were all made in the 1980s, and
later wound up in various Japanese brand electronics
and automotive control units in the early to mid 90s.
This is not a problem with contemporary components.

Mitsubishi 3000GT / Dodge Stealth Electronic Control Suspension Unit

ECS part # MB629056

The ECS control module is located in the trunk, behind the interior plastic body panels on the passenger side. Just below the trunk interior light is an access panel. You have to remove the trunk trays to access this panel.

Be prepared for this unit to have some damage to it.
Real often the electrolytic capacitors on these make quite a mess of the board, sometimes its not a big deal, and can be repaired thoroughly, but others it will be better to just replace it.

Controlling the struts electronically is only possible when using factory ECS struts made by KYB.

When operating properly the ECS module should perform as listed below

Sport modesuspension is set at Hard.
The damping force can be checked by simply bouncing
the mounting points in both modes and checking that the damping force is harder in the Sport state.

Tour mode - activates the following:
Anti-Roll:   If the steering wheel is rotated 90 degrees within 0.3 seconds then the suspension is set at Medium. If this change occurs within 0.2 seconds then it is set at Hard.

Anti-Dive:   When the speed of the car drops quickly during braking the suspension sets itself to Hard.

Anti-Squat:   The suspension will harden at low speeds when accelerating quickly. During hard acceleration at 30km/h the suspension is set at Hard, at 60km/h it is set at Medium,
at 90km/h it is set at Soft. At all speeds suspension will change to Medium after a second of acceleration.

High Speed Sensitive:   When accelerating the suspension will change from Soft to Medium at 130km/h and will revert back to soft when the speed drops below 120km/h.

Pitch and Bounce: If the vehicle's body bounces up and down by approx 5cm within a second then the suspension is set at Hard until this motion ceases.
